I have been clean and sober since 2021 after using class A substances for 22 years. During that time I experienced homelessness and imprisonment. After numerous community detoxes, I finally achieved sobriety through a 12 step fellowship and a community detox. In April 2023, I began volunteering with Lindale Recovery and soon progressed to an employed support worker. This job is very diverse, and my lived experience has equipped me with valuable skills. I have learned that addiction does not discriminate and affects people from all walks of life. I strive to never be judgmental and to always be available to listen to residents. It is deeply rewarding to see residents start to open up, trust me, share things they have never shared before, and ask for help. I am dedicated to supporting them through their recovery.
